Theists and Atheists alike, the universe, how it began, all that jazz?

If the Universe were eternal, the argument that God did not need a cause because He is eternal would, indeed, also apply to the Universe. Except the concept of an eternal Universe has one problem; the big bang. A good question to ask if why creationists and fundies reject the big bang, since it is the best evidence for a Creator.
