How much does previous employment mean to Police Applicants?

I am 23 years old. I have a good head on my shoulders no drug use of any kind ever and have never came in contact with Officers in any negative way at all. I am starting to apply to various Departments soon but i have a concern. I have been working on and off with my dads floor sand company i was wondering on a overall basis will they look down on me for that? seeing as it has never been really steady?
