In the navy how long would i be on a boat?

i plan on joining as a construction electrican, anyone who has been in the branch or perferably this job be able to tell me how long i would be off of land? my wife hates for me to be gone for TOO long but she knows its the best for us.. i just want to know how long i would be gone.. or if i joined logistics
